Respiratory Rate
Two Methods, One Robust Result
We combine motion analysis and physiological signal processing for robust respiratory rate detection, even when one signal is weak.
Motion Analysis
Detects subtle chest and shoulder movements during breathing
RSA Detection
Analyzes heart rate variations caused by breathing
Clinical Applications
COPD Monitoring
Track respiratory rate trends for COPD patients to detect exacerbations early.
Post-COVID Care
Monitor respiratory status during recovery from respiratory infections.
Hospital at Home
Frequent respiratory checks for acute care patients monitored at home.
Telehealth Triage
Assess respiratory status during virtual consultations without physical exam.
Respiratory Rate FAQ
Common questions about contactless breathing detection
How does contactless respiratory rate detection work?
Our technology detects breathing through two methods: analyzing subtle chest/shoulder movement patterns visible in video, and detecting respiratory-induced variations in the heart rate signal (respiratory sinus arrhythmia). Both signals are combined for robust respiratory rate estimation.
How does contactless respiratory rate detection work?
Circadify combines motion analysis of chest and shoulder movement with respiratory sinus arrhythmia detection to estimate breathing rate from camera video in real time.
Can it detect respiratory distress?
While we can detect abnormal respiratory rates (tachypnea or bradypnea), our system is not currently cleared for detecting respiratory distress conditions. It should be used for general monitoring, not emergency assessment.
Does the user need to do anything special for breathing measurement?
No special action is required. Simply sit normally and breathe naturally while looking at the camera. The measurement works during the same 30-second scan that captures other vital signs.
