Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions About Contactless Vitals
Find answers to frequently asked questions about Circadify's rPPG technology, integration options, privacy practices, and more.
Technology & Science
What vital signs can Circadify measure?
Circadify returns heart rate, respiratory rate, and heart rate variability (HRV), with blood pressure, SpO2, and stress-related indicators available depending on configuration, validation, and intended use. All outputs come from a guided camera scan with no wearables required.
How does rPPG technology work?
Remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) detects subtle color variations in facial skin caused by blood flow. Our AI analyzes these micro-changes to return cardiovascular signals such as heart rate, respiratory rate, HRV, and optional BP or SpO2 trends.
Does rPPG work on all skin tones?
Modern rPPG algorithms are designed to work across diverse skin tones. We continue to test and improve our algorithms to ensure equitable performance across demographics.
What lighting conditions does rPPG require?
rPPG works best in well-lit environments with diffuse lighting. Direct sunlight or very dim conditions can affect results. Our algorithms include quality checks that notify users when conditions may affect measurement reliability.
Devices & Platforms
What devices and platforms are supported?
Circadify works on any device with a standard camera — smartphones (iOS/Android), tablets, laptops, and desktop computers with webcams. We integrate with 50+ EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth, plus major telehealth platforms.
Do I need special hardware or wearables?
No. Circadify is entirely software-based and uses the camera already built into your smartphone, tablet, or computer. No wearables, cuffs, clips, or additional hardware is needed.
Which telehealth platforms does Circadify integrate with?
Circadify integrates with Teladoc, Amwell, MDLIVE, Doxy.me, Zoom for Healthcare, Microsoft Teams for Healthcare, Webex for Healthcare, and custom telehealth platforms.
Which EHR systems are supported?
We support 50+ EHR systems including Epic, Cerner (Oracle Health), Athenahealth, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Allscripts, NextGen, and many more. Data flows in FHIR and HL7 formats.
Privacy & Security
Is my health data secure and HIPAA compliant?
Circadify supports HIPAA-eligible deployments with encrypted transmission, limited retention, and Business Associate Agreements for qualified healthcare organizations. The standard SDK flow prepares measurement payloads locally so raw video frames are not uploaded.
Is facial video recorded or stored?
No. Facial video frames and data are never stored. Video captured by your camera during a vital signs scan is rapidly processed and immediately discarded. We do not store, retain, or archive any video recordings, images, or frames.
Can my doctor see my health data through Circadify?
Your healthcare provider cannot see your health data through our system unless you choose to share it. Vital sign readings are displayed only to the individual being scanned during the session.
Does Circadify offer a BAA?
Yes. We provide Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) for all healthcare organizations using our platform. Our infrastructure and processes are designed to meet HIPAA security and privacy requirements.
